Good and bad thoughts

What is the importance of good and bad thoughts?
and why on earth is it said to send good thoughts, even to your "enemy"?

i find that this article illustrate it so well, especially for pragmatic people : )

French+English version below.

Les oiseaux blancs et les oiseaux noirs

« Béni soit qui me hait, béni soit qui m'aime... Moi je ne veux qu'aimer ! », disait Victor Hugo.

( Évangile de Jésus )

OK, here is the English Version :

A Teaching story from Tierno Bokar
“In relation to one another,” he said, “humans are comparable to walls located facing one another. Each wall is pierced by a multitude of small holes where white birds and black birds are nested. The black birds are bad thoughts and bad words. The white birds are good thoughts and good words. Because of their form, the white birds can only enter into holes for white birds and the same for black birds who can only nest in holes for black birds. Now, imagine two men who believe they are enemies of each other. Let us call them Yousef and Ali.
One day, Yousef, persuaded that Ali wishes bad for him, feels full of anger for Ali and sends him a very bad thought. In doing this, Yousef releases a black bird and at the same time liberates a corresponding hole. His black bird flies towards Ali and looks for an empty hole adapted to his form to nest in. If, from his side, Ali has not sent a black bird towards Yousef, that is, if Ali has not emitted any bad thought, none of his black holes will be empty. Finding no place to lodge itself, Yousef’s black bird will be obliged to return to its original nest, taking with him the evil which he was burdened with, an evil which will end up eroding and destroying Yousef himself.
But let us imagine that Ali too has emitted a bad thought. By doing this, he has liberated a hole in which Yousef’s black bird will be able to enter in order to deposit part of his evil and accomplish there his mission of destruction. During this time, Ali’s black bird will fly towards Yousef and will alight in the hole freed up by Ali’s black bird. Thus, the two black birds will have obtained their goal and will have worked to destroy the men whom they were each destined for.
But once their task is accomplished, the birds will each return to their nest of origin because, it is said: ‘Everything returns to its source.’Since the evil they were burdened with is not exhausted, this evil will turn against their authors and will end up destroying them. The author of a bad thought, of a bad wish, or of an ill-spoken word is therefore attacked by both the black bird of his enemy and by his own black bird when this latter returns to him.
The same thing happens with white birds. If we emit only good thoughts towards our enemy, whereas the enemy only addresses bad thoughts to us, the enemy’s black birds will not find any place to lodge themselves with us and will return to their sender. As for the white birds who bear good thoughts that we have sent to him, if they find no free place with our enemy, they will return to us charged with all the beneficial energy which they are carrying.
Thus, if we emit only good thoughts, no evil, no ill-spoken words can ever reach into our being. That is why one should always ask for blessings on both one’s friends and one’s enemies. Not only does the benediction go towards its objective to accomplish its mission of pacification, but also it comes back to us, one day or another, with everything with which it is laden.
This is what the Sufis called “desirable egoism”. It is the valid Love of Self, likened to respect for oneself and for one’s neighbor because every man, good or bad, is the depository of a part of the divine Light. That is why the Sufis, in conformity with the teaching of the Prophet, do not want to soil either their mouth or their being by bad words or bad thoughts, even by apparently benign criticisms.”
Because of the principle that wills that “everything returns to its source” he urged his students to only generate their most pure spiritual vibrations by consecrating their thoughts and tongues to the recitation of the Name of God (dhikrullah).
Many thanks to Sacred Web.

Watching thoughts during day time

You let go of thoughts (they are of past or future, but never of the present)
for only Hu is (of the ) Present
and Hu begets not, nor is begotten
so why these thoughts?
where they are born from?

from this inner well
that keeps being cleansed
and thoughts are rising
and being thrown out
but like your father if you try to recuperate the old things that the mother is throwing out of the garage
we are never going to end the cleaning! : ))

so, when thoughts arise
or problematic or tensed situation arise
or just situations arise : )))
watch the event
while putting your attention
at the base of the well
from where all mounts up,
i.e. 1cm below your navel

this will help you to center yourself
and not being thrown overboard! : )

as in the present you are thinking
you think that you are present
but no
Hu is the Present
and Hu is Joy
it is the same Hu that all of the environment utters
like the pigeon
have you listen to it, it says Hu, Hu, Hu
and this Hu manifested in the pigeon is of a gracious nature
the pigeon is a gracious manifestation of that Present State of Mind
so is the nature
for is it not said that nature makes the zikr of Allah that you do not understand?
this Hu zikr is so that it manifests the present spontaneously
as no pigeon blocks it : ) with its thoughts
nor trees block it with their own ideas

and its mark is of the Present
is Grace and Flow
it is JOY

likewise
in human nature that Hu is present
that Joy is present
just thoughts cover it

can you imagine?
i suddenly felt in awe
if one becomes a thoughtless, a fully thoughtless human being
and the Hu of the Present
manifest then through us
then such a shining Beauty one should be?
for if it is is so with trees
what could it be with a human being?

so that you be the joy
for joy is not thoughts
so you empty the vessel/mind for joy to shine
joy does not come
it already IS there
and it is Present
it is your present/gift

and if you feel hurt look at where you felt a hurt
where you felt it
for it is not you who are looking
but the Healing Motherly Love through your eyes

and it is gone, healed!

Worth of thoughtless awareness

: )
Look at it,
down,
there, right in the heart
and also
a little bit further down,
in the belly

The inner warm, soft, light fulfilling and melting wave
how has it risen?!
just like this
spontaneously
which heavenly words where i listening to?

"his eyes were so pure and so full of devotion and humility."

that was what opened my ears to the talk,
like when one is completely asleep
and somehow raise ears when something catch your attention : )))

then,
there :

Everybody seems to be very knowledgeable and start telling, what is the best, what is not the best, what is not good, and once they start saying something like that, the mind becomes reflective. If the mind is not reflective, then you have thoughtless awareness. Watch anything – just to watch, just to witness, you should not reflect, if you are using your mental power then this power subsides. This is a very common defect with people, because I think you people are more intelligent, they would think maybe, I think you are well educated, might be – I don’t know, whatever you think. But this reflecting mind is a very dangerous thing for spirituality, you will never grow and then with a reflecting mind you will have different emotions, with something you reflect on somebody. Now, if it is your son or daughter or something, you’ll get identified with it. Identification with someone is artificial it is not in reality. But because of this mind, reflects, it identifies. Now, many identifications, you have dropped out, for example, you’re bias about religion, about races, about maybe nationalities, you have dropped out. But still I would say, the reflecting mind still acts. And this is the greatest hurdle for the progress of Sahaja Yogis of today. I’ve been thinking why is it the reflecting mind, is so active in the Sahaja Yogis of today? If you could stop reflecting, immediately you establish yourself in the ocean of peace. You watch something, you just watch, there is no ripple of thought in your mind. Then you become extremely creative, you become extremely dynamic, you become extremely compassionate. You have no fear, some people think, if you are compassionate, you see this man might (letch?) with you, you have no fear. All what you have to enjoy, you can only enjoy when you do not reflect. That means that you leave everything to the Divine. You are not in charge. You don’t see that you have to be reflecting on something. This is the greatest power you have got – is not to reflect.

petals : so we just watch life around and do not reflect.
in a way, it is like when you look at yourself being a well, and things kept being thrown out of it
so you do not run towards the thing thrown out
but keep watching that the well is being emptied
so you watch your daily life on the spot
especially, when you feel a sting, it is THERE that you WATCH it
because you allow it to go
of course, you will fail nearly always : )), till you get it.

THE POWER TO LET GO
: ) very few use it, because we know not what remains when we let go
so we stick to analysis and reaction, as it fills our inner void and emptiness
but that is the one we have to face
and as it is an unknown territory to us
we never wish to be left in emptiness

BUT that is were the talk becomes sweet :

when we reflect we absorb, when we reflect on something, we absorb that thing. And mostly our attention goes to the defects of others. This person is no good, that is not good, her hair is not alright, her sari is not alright – this that and all nonsense. So what are we doing, we are absorbing all the bad things also. Now when you start admiration of something, then what happens that you may not get the bad things but at least you are on a better line. But still the admiration in thoughtless awareness is really very deep. I saw this in the eyes of this great scientist, absolutely he was just one with me and his eyes were like an ocean of peace.

Mother,
you do not sleep
by night and day you remain awake

and as a mother
you wait that may be
once
her child
will look up at her
right in her eyes
and recognise her

but for this to happen
eyes should see
and they cannot see till
they are clouded by thoughts activity
for thoughts are much more than passing
they are the veils
which separate us
from The Present

we have never lived in the Present

and very often as shy children do
it is when time of departure of the guests and their children
the host children will miss them
and it is always a few minutres before the departure
that friendliness rises
and hardly has one started to bond together to enjoy
that little time for enjoyment remains

so is the human being's fate
it is when, if he is merciful to himself, he opens his eyes to The Present
that he sees his Mother
and by then, the time of separation has drawn so near
that little time remains to enjoy
-petals

This sets in, this reflection sets in, waves of thoughts in our mind. I have already once described by drawing. How the energy that falls on the right side goes to the left side and that which falls on the left side goes to the right – crosses over because of the two types of cells we have. Then out of this energy that goes to the right, the energy that goes to the left, it is sucked in partly into the sympathetic. Now, whatever is left out is the one that reflects. That is the way it goes on reflecting. Now, if you can suck in all that energy and put it on our sympathetic then all our energies will be 1,000 fold, much more. You will not be tired, you will not be unhappy, you will be able to stand lots of nonsense, but we’ll not call it a nonsense, we’ll not think it’s a bad thing, so it has no effect on us. This quality we have to develop.

-petals : see : ) how it is said,
the right energy goes on left
the left on the right
and what remains is the one that reflects
but if you let all being drawn into the sympathetic
then you are free

and make yourself empty
like making a screen clean
so that this time the energy projects in a spontaneous way
on your inner screen
that which you are to enjoy in the Present.
